About the Author

Nastaran Kherad was born in Abadan, Iran, near the Persian Gulf. At age two, after her father’s sudden death, she moved to Shiraz to live with her maternal grandmother, Bibi. After fleeing Iran she graduated from California State University, Long Beach. She currently is pursuing a doctorate in Contemporary Persian Studies and Exile Literature at the University of Texas in Austin. This is her first book.
